While the Boston media were throwing an OMGWTFBBQ over the fact that Tom Brady was pictured wearing a "walking cast" on his foot yesterday, I noticed on my way home from the gym that the folks at Central Square Florists were keeping away from the negative by pointing out that, as usual, Tom Brady models ideal male behavior:

This week's Tom Brady injury report: shoulder (probable); ankle (probable); heart (won over).

 - Hideki Okajima is the most important player on the Red Sox roster right now.  I'm serious.  He turned last night's game into a five-inning affair.

- Dear Fox producers: the first time at team hits a bunch of doubles and you play "Double Vision," it's funny.  The eighteenth time, I want to find you and do horrible, painful things to you.

- I want to meet the Rockies' second baseman, just so I can say he's a Kazuo acquaintance.

- I wish I knew what percentage of people watching last night's game had the exact same thought I did when Papelbon picked off Matt Holliday.  To wit: "Guess he shouldn't have taken a Holliday on the bases!"  My guess is somewhere between 30 and 40 percent.

- P.S. to Fox producers: Playing Green Day's Holiday when talking about Matt Holliday isn't funny any more either.

- The difference between 2004 and 2007: I was never scared last night that the Red Sox only had a one-run lead.  Three years ago, I would have been terrified.

- I can't believe I'm saying this, but the Red Sox should sit Ortiz in Colorado, and put J.D. Drew in the 3-hole.  Wow, I just died a little inside.

So, it's now into my fourth full week of work, and I still really don't have anything to do.  I know that everybody who's completely swamped will tell me that I'm lucky, that I should count my blessings that I'm not totally overwhelmed, but it's a unique kind of workplace torture to have nothing to do.  I feel mostly guilty about it.  What am I doing that nobody wants to find anything for me?  Did I forget to put deodorant on today?  Oh well.  Here are some things that are cheering me up right now.

- My fantasy football team is 3-0.  (Thanks, Brian Westbrook!)
- In a little over 30 hours, I'll be at karaoke.
- I've got a wonderful group of friends here in Boston, who -- so far as I can tell -- are never, ever going to let me get bored.

21st-Sep-2007 10:23 am - Mmmm... Memories...
cone
There are certain foods that, for me at least, conjure up a very particular memory.  A specific event, place, or person that has become permanently attached to some food.  For example: blueberries remind me of the time my family went to Nova Scotia and visited a relative of mine (great-aunt or something weird like that) at her house.  She had a huge blueberry patch in her backyard, so my brother and I spent about an hour picking blueberries from the bushes out there.  It was a great afternoon, and I'm happy to remember it every time I eat blueberries.

What food memories do you have?  What foods just make you think about something every time you eat them, and why?

And so, for those of you who haven't seen it, Alanis Morissette covers "My Humps":
